Great local place. The owner it seems is always present making sure things run well for the guests. Coupled with attentive wait staff and super food Winslow’s has become a favorite for a nice meal in Cashiers.
Went on Saturday night. Great menu. Great service. Trout was the most delicious i have had. Carrot cake was excellent.
Best meal in town! Hidden in a strip mall this unassuming restaurant puts out the best dinner time after time. After dozens of times eating there, we have yet to be disappointed. Steak, trout, prime rib, lobster app.... homemade desserts( key lime pie!) and extensive wine list( Silver Oak, Stags Leap...)
Be sure to make advanced reservations.
Winslow's is perhaps one of the best dining experiences in not just Cashiers but the region itself. I truly enjoyed all they had to offer, from the small, cozy, and inviting dining room to the attentive, delightful staff, to the superb food. I had the French Onion soup which was rich and delicious. The Tomato Blitz salad was wonderful down to the last bite. The Chicken Palermo was equally outstanding; all these dishes were clearly made with quality ingredients and plenty of skill and care. If you can save room for dessert (a challenging feat), I recommend the carrot cake, it's always a pleasure. I would like to commend all the staff and the owner of Winslow's Hideaway for the fantastic experience which myself and friends never miss each time we visit. Continue the incredible work!
The food is amazing. If I could eat there everyday I would.
First time we were there, everything was fantastic, food was outstanding especially the sauces they were perfect and complimented the items they were served with. One of the best steaks I've had anywhere. always save room for dessert they are a perfect way to end a meal.Service was friendly and attentive, everything was served in a manner that you would expect in a fine dining atmosphere. They get ten out of ten. So when in Cashiers NC take the time to stop in you won't be disappointed.
We visited this restaurant for our anniversary. It's a sweet little place, and the food is delicious. The French Onion soup was just right, the Lamb was terrific, and the mint sauce was the perfect accompaniment. We had the house recipe Key Lime pie for dessert, and it was easily one of the best we ever tasted.
Moved to Franklin,NC a little over a year ago. While most of the restaurants in Franklin have decent food, they really aren’t what I would call a celebration type restaurant, but are instead more for casual dinning. I wanted someplace special to celebrate and ran across Winslow’s online. It looked good so, I thought it might be good to try. The atmosphere was very nice, cozy little restaurant that was quiet enough to hear each other talk. Staff was friendly and attentive without making us feel rushed. We had an enjoyable, relaxing, delicious round of appetizers (lump crab, shrimp, fried lobster tail) all of which were delicious. I had a crock of French onion soup which was also quite good. My wife had chicken Palermo which she loved (I sampled and agreed it was very good). I chose Crabmeat Owen which was awesome. I never was here before but will definitely return. Menu is a bit on the high priced side and would not be for budget conscious people unless for perhaps a once/year splurge, but I have to say it was worth the price. A bit of a ride from Franklin, but it was well worth it.
I work here and it's pretty dope cause the owners are intelligent and we'll mannered. They also feed all of us all night which is awesome. Eat here!
Great service, wonderful food.
Awesome food, high quality and service is outstanding. Highly recommend!!!
After nearly a week in Asheville, and a couple nights in Cashiers, we were fortunate enough to stumble upon this gem. Small, so make reservations. We tried the escargot, French onion soup, filet and prime rib. Everything was great. Our waiter was young, but exceptionally polite. Certainly the best meal on the trip, and very memorable.
A secret treasure. Excellent in every aspect.
We've dined at this intimate family restaurant many times and the food is always delicious. The menu is old-school steak and seafood, made with top notch ingredients and served on white tablecloths. The best part about the dining experience here is the professional and friendly staff! We usually get the half-portion trout Winslow with lump crab or a petit filet with sides of potato or creamed spinach. With food this good, who needs big portions to feel satisfied.
My husband and I went here because of a recommendation in our Airbnb cabin near Sylva. It was an hour long drive but worth every minute. This is a rare find.
The staff and family are very well informed, extremely professional and knowledgeable.
The food is prepared and served in five-star manner. It was our first time here and it won't be the last. We could tell Winslow's has a loyal following from the locals - with good reason.
The only thing I will caution about is this - don't miss it when you drive into Cashiers! It's hiding behind the Wells Fargo Bank building in a strip center. Maybe that's why they call it a "hideaway" ?
The food was delicious and service was impeccable!
Food was delicious from the appetizers to the desserts. Great customer service as well we will be back.
We haven't gone there yet this year but we intend to ...last time we went we gave it a five stars it's a great experience
Great place. Fabulous food!
Can't believe we've not been to Winslow's Hideaway before. A hidden gem for sure! Everything was on point, from the cocktails to dessert and coffee. I especially loved the mushroom barley soup. You're invited to take a picture of the recipe from a Gourmet magazine article that's hanging on the wall. The Trout Winslow was perfect with plenty of lump crab and bernaise sauce. The service from Chef Winslow, Terri and Edgar was the best we've had ... professional, yet engaging. We can't wait to return with the rest of our family.
Must go if in Cashers NC. Great food and cocktails. Waitress accepted us. Thank you for your hospitality and great food and service
Best food and fantastic service. A perfect combination!!
A rare foodie find. This is a true chef-owned, family-run, made from scratch gem. Winslow’s mushroom barley soup is out of this world. All the sauces are made in house (don’t miss the paradigm sauce), and omg this fried lobster. There really are no words. Just get here. You’ll be so glad you did!
Oh and btw; the fish portion filled the plate
I am one of the owners. We take great pride in top quality food and great service. Open year round!
A very nice family owned and operated restaurant! Amazing food and service, very special culinary experience. Plus, the wine and the bred are delicious.
A very rainy nite in Cashiers, NC but Winslow's Hideaway was open and ready for anyone to come out. Our first time there and we had a delicious dinner. We tried the stone crabs claws (yummy), and I had the trout and my hubby had the ribeye steak cooked to perfection. Everything was excellent and the service was top notch. And if you like an Old Fashion cocktail, Edgar makes one of the best you have ever had!!! Great find in Cashiers.
Excellent service with spectacular food. The fried Maine lobster tail and the escargot appetizers were perfection. The accommodating staff and quiet quant atmosphere makes for a wonderful night out.
I have always thought that good food could be ruined with poor waiters and that average food could be outstanding with a good waiter. Not a concern for Winslow, both the food and wait staff were outstanding a rare combination in today's restaurant industry. If in the area, don't miss the opportunity to eat here.
The very best onion soup I have ever had. Friendly staff excellent service and wonderful food!
Definitely give this hidden gem a try and DEFINITELY make reservations. We had the prime rib and the fish special, both very good. The onion soup was out of this world! It is small and intimate and the service mountain friendly.
Terrific little spot for a nice dinner. Come as you are. We were casually dressed and others were Resort casual. Service was amazing! Food fantastic. Wine a little pricey but good list and excellent choices. Make reservations because there's only 7-8 tables. Well worth it!!!
What a special treat to discover Winslow's Hideaway. The ambiance was fabulous, only nine tables and quiet! The food was gourmet and beautifully presented. The service was exceptional and the fact that Edgar greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. His father (the chef) also came out to welcome us. It is definitely a treasure here in the mountains!
My wife and I love Winslow's. We come up to Cashiers every year. We ate here last year and had to come back this year.
Chef Winslow creates superior food. His wife, Terri who does some of the serving is a delight. And son Edgar does bar tending and "quality control" on the floor plus other duties. The few other staff are more than capable and fun.
I've had the deep fried lobster tail both years as a starter and love it. My wife had the escargot and raved as the best she's had since some in France.
Mains were the Prime Rib with Winslow's incredible sauce. My wife couldn't say enough about the petit filet.
We shared a dessert that was to die for.
The restaurant is small, maybe about ten tables, so do reserve. And it is not inexpensive but worth every penny.
You must go!!
Fabulous! Service was great and our meal was unbelievable! Fried lobster was sooo amazing!
Amazed -- yet again! Only our second visit in the last year and the attentive service and delectable menu were unchanged -- exquisite in all respects. You'll be treated like family in this smallish, yet warm and welcoming hideaway. Clearly one of the mountain's best kept secrets.
Fine dining meets a new level in Cashiers. This place is unbelievable! The ambiance is luscious, the food is delectable, the staff incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Metropolitan level cuisine comes to Cashiers for sure!
Perfection’s steakhouse . Every spirit and mixed drink you can imagine. Lovely Owner and son. My one and only for steaks! 5 stars mot enough!
One of the best meals I've ever had. The costs are terribly reasonable if you consider the quality of food, the server to patron ratio and the skills of the chef. Please order the trout. It's the best in America. Their garlic redux sauce was amazing as were the perfect chunks of crab. This was an experience you must have at least twice in your lifetime. Cannot wait to return. Make reservations there are 8 tables. Frankly you will not find a better meal with this level of personal caring service anywhere in the area. It's just that good.
I think it was really spectacular!!! I think my date had so much fun and they have really cute names for drinks and food items. This place is Supercalifragilisticexpialidoucious which means AWESOME
(Written by my 12 yr old son)
Great staff, food, and drinks!! LOVED this place! The food was actually some of the bet I have consumed!!
Wonderful food and wonderful service.
This restaurant is exquisite! It's our 3 rd time dining and each time it has been awesome!!!!! The food has a great variety, all to perfection, and an excellent wine list. The chef's personally developed toppings and sauces you can choose from, for your fish or meat, make all the entrees unique!
This is a great little restaurant. I mean that in a literal way. The place has about 9-10 tables, but don't let that fool you. Both food and service are on point.
We began dinner with a couple cocktails which were really well done. For appetizers we got the French Onion Soup and a Caesar Salad. Both of them were really good. Our mains were the Prime Rib and the Trout Winslow which is stuffed with crab meat and topped with a barnaise sauce. The Prime Rib was an end cut...which is not my favorite but was still really good. Chef Edgar even made an off menu kids dish of chicken fingers for our daughter. Throughout dinner everyone working there stopped by to check on us...as they did with all tables. Chef Edgar went around and talked to everyone as well. Really made you feel at home.
Overall I highly recommend this place. Can't beat good food and service. Enjoy!!
I went to Winslows Hideaway to celebrate a friend's birthday a few days ago and I'm still dreaming about the fabulous food and excellent service!!! I cannot adequately convey in this review how wonderful it was. The atmosphere is perfection! One friend commented that it reminded her of a small French restaurant--cozy but stylish. The hostess is the son of the chef and he explained to us that the paintings on the wall were done by his grandmother. He also pointed out other family memorabilia and newspaper clippings. There is so much rich heritage and history in this little hideaway. Okay, now for the real star of the show--the meal! Everything was delicious!! The soup of the day was mushroom barley soup. It is a soup that the chef has been making for decades and it is phenomenal. My mouth is watering thinking about it right now!! We raved about the soup to the chef and he generously sent us home with a free container!! I had the steak and potatoes skins which were perfect and delicious. We finished the night with the key lime pie. Again, words fail me. This was the best key lime pie I have ever had in my life. I don't think I can ever eat key lime pie again because I will always be comparing Winslow's. Next time I'm in cashiers I am absolutely making a reservation here again. Thankyou for a great meal and memorable evening!
Fine dining in Cashiers like this is rare. A small restaurant with maybe 8 tables but a full bar. White tablecloths tuxed waiters and outstanding food. Good drinks. A nice wine list and bread--I always check out the bread-- was divine. Fresh, well prepared food and good service. A bit pricy. But worth it. Make your reservations early and enjoy.
Had dinner there last evening! Great service! Prime rib my friends ordered was exceptional! Clean plates by all. Recommend Winslow's trout was The Best!
No Place better in Cashiers that touches this restaurant- Service-Ambience-Quality-Value
Looking for a fine restaurant?- LOOK NO further- the BEST thing to happen to Cashiers since we have been around [9 years]- Exceptional quality and service + food is outstanding-
Thanks to ALL!
Wow! What a great find. European inspired cooking with some New Orleans flavor. The signature barley and mushroom soup was very good as were the entrees. I had the special for the night which was a bone-in filet with a "shadow" sauce consisting of a mix of black and white garlic served with a petit lobster tail and shrimp. Everything had such great flavor. The sides are large enough for the table. The sauteed corn was very sweet and savory done with mushrooms. The hollandaise was amazing on the asparagus. The only bummer was no Crme Brule for dessert. That would have been a great ending to a great meal.
