A very rainy nite in Cashiers, NC but Winslow's Hideaway was open and ready for anyone to come out. Our first time there and we had a delicious dinner. We tried the stone crabs claws (yummy), and I had the trout and my hubby had the ribeye steak cooked to perfection. Everything was excellent and the service was top notch. And if you like an Old Fashion cocktail, Edgar makes one of the best you have ever had!!! Great find in Cashiers.

Excellent service with spectacular food. The fried Maine lobster tail and the escargot appetizers were perfection. The accommodating staff and quiet quant atmosphere makes for a wonderful night out.

I have always thought that good food could be ruined with poor waiters and that average food could be outstanding with a good waiter. Not a concern for Winslow, both the food and wait staff were outstanding a rare combination in today's restaurant industry. If in the area, don't miss the opportunity to eat here.

Definitely give this hidden gem a try and DEFINITELY make reservations. We had the prime rib and the fish special, both very good. The onion soup was out of this world! It is small and intimate and the service mountain friendly.

Terrific little spot for a nice dinner. Come as you are. We were casually dressed and others were Resort casual. Service was amazing! Food fantastic. Wine a little pricey but good list and excellent choices. Make reservations because there's only 7-8 tables. Well worth it!!!

What a special treat to discover Winslow's Hideaway. The ambiance was fabulous, only nine tables and quiet! The food was gourmet and beautifully presented. The service was exceptional and the fact that Edgar greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. His father (the chef) also came out to welcome us. It is definitely a treasure here in the mountains!

My wife and I love Winslow's. We come up to Cashiers every year. We ate here last year and had to come back this year.

Chef Winslow creates superior food. His wife, Terri who does some of the serving is a delight. And son Edgar does bar tending and "quality control" on the floor plus other duties. The few other staff are more than capable and fun.

I've had the deep fried lobster tail both years as a starter and love it. My wife had the escargot and raved as the best she's had since some in France.

Mains were the Prime Rib with Winslow's incredible sauce. My wife couldn't say enough about the petit filet.

We shared a dessert that was to die for.

The restaurant is small, maybe about ten tables, so do reserve. And it is not inexpensive but worth every penny.

    You must go!!

Amazed -- yet again! Only our second visit in the last year and the attentive service and delectable menu were unchanged -- exquisite in all respects. You'll be treated like family in this smallish, yet warm and welcoming hideaway. Clearly one of the mountain's best kept secrets.

One of the best meals I've ever had. The costs are terribly reasonable if you consider the quality of food, the server to patron ratio and the skills of the chef. Please order the trout. It's the best in America. Their garlic redux sauce was amazing as were the perfect chunks of crab. This was an experience you must have at least twice in your lifetime. Cannot wait to return. Make reservations there are 8 tables. Frankly you will not find a better meal with this level of personal caring service anywhere in the area. It's just that good.

This restaurant is exquisite! It's our 3 rd time dining and each time it has been awesome!!!!! The food has a great variety, all to perfection, and an excellent wine list. The chef's personally developed toppings and sauces you can choose from, for your fish or meat, make all the entrees unique!

This is a great little restaurant. I mean that in a literal way. The place has about 9-10 tables, but don't let that fool you. Both food and service are on point.

We began dinner with a couple cocktails which were really well done. For appetizers we got the French Onion Soup and a Caesar Salad. Both of them were really good. Our mains were the Prime Rib and the Trout Winslow which is stuffed with crab meat and topped with a barnaise sauce. The Prime Rib was an end cut...which is not my favorite but was still really good. Chef Edgar even made an off menu kids dish of chicken fingers for our daughter. Throughout dinner everyone working there stopped by to check on us...as they did with all tables. Chef Edgar went around and talked to everyone as well. Really made you feel at home.

Overall I highly recommend this place. Can't beat good food and service. Enjoy!!

I went to Winslows Hideaway to celebrate a friend's birthday a few days ago and I'm still dreaming about the fabulous food and excellent service!!! I cannot adequately convey in this review how wonderful it was. The atmosphere is perfection! One friend commented that it reminded her of a small French restaurant--cozy but stylish. The hostess is the son of the chef and he explained to us that the paintings on the wall were done by his grandmother. He also pointed out other family memorabilia and newspaper clippings. There is so much rich heritage and history in this little hideaway. Okay, now for the real star of the show--the meal! Everything was delicious!! The soup of the day was mushroom barley soup. It is a soup that the chef has been making for decades and it is phenomenal. My mouth is watering thinking about it right now!! We raved about the soup to the chef and he generously sent us home with a free container!! I had the steak and potatoes skins which were perfect and delicious. We finished the night with the key lime pie. Again, words fail me. This was the best key lime pie I have ever had in my life. I don't think I can ever eat key lime pie again because I will always be comparing Winslow's. Next time I'm in cashiers I am absolutely making a reservation here again. Thankyou for a great meal and memorable evening!

Fine dining in Cashiers like this is rare. A small restaurant with maybe 8 tables but a full bar. White tablecloths tuxed waiters and outstanding food. Good drinks. A nice wine list and bread--I always check out the bread-- was divine. Fresh, well prepared food and good service. A bit pricy. But worth it. Make your reservations early and enjoy.

Wow! What a great find. European inspired cooking with some New Orleans flavor. The signature barley and mushroom soup was very good as were the entrees. I had the special for the night which was a bone-in filet with a "shadow" sauce consisting of a mix of black and white garlic served with a petit lobster tail and shrimp. Everything had such great flavor. The sides are large enough for the table. The sauteed corn was very sweet and savory done with mushrooms. The hollandaise was amazing on the asparagus. The only bummer was no Crme Brule for dessert. That would have been a great ending to a great meal.
